Jan Bowden grew up in Northern Michigan. She seemed to have spent most of her life outdoors interacting with nature on skis, on a bike, or in the water. Thus her appreciation for nature and what it has to offer.
Jan took pottery classes in college and made jewelry for extra money. After college she worked in the accounting field even though she can't add or subtract. She finally stopped fighting her creative self and became a fine arts photography understudy to Cherie Heiser in Portland, OR. Jan switched to working in metal after she met her husband Vince and her camera broke. She took glass classes at The Glass Axis in Columbus, OH and introduced glass into their metal work which satisfied her need for color, texture, and light for their collaborated artwork. Jan has been a full-time artist since 1993.
