Located on St Rt 605 in Center Village, Ohio, Sunbear is the working studio for Meredith Martin, pastel artist, and also a gallery dedicated to showing the original work of local and Ohio artists. A renovated town hall, the historic gallery regularly shows a group of talented people’s creations, including work by photographer Ruth Smilan, stained glass artists Kurt and Lorry Wendling, potter Josh Shremshock, craft artist Sarah Williams, watercolorist Fran Mangino and jewelers Bonnie Moseley, Deirdre Pifer, Laurie Simpson and Beth Blake. These artists are ‘regulars’ at the studio and their beautiful works are consistently available to collectors, while new work is presented bimonthly. Photo by Ruth SmilanIn addition to the Sunbear regulars, the studio invites guest artists to participate in our “events” - fun gatherings that take place in the spring and fall, featuring artist demonstrations, original art discount sales, live music, food and prizes. It’s all part of a lively two or three day event. Sunbear events are open to the public, and information is always available on the website on the “Events and Classes” page.

Recently the studio began offering art classes, a popular part of the Sunbear activities. Most classes are held at the studio and are open to students of all ages, depending on the class. They are taught by well-qualified, working artists and are available in a variety of formats for your convenience. Private lessons in various media are also available.
